Normal People Scare Me: A Film About Autism - Cover
ARTS: Disabilities, Possibilities, & The Arts
In production, due to be completed Spring 2008

Painting, drawing, writing, music, drama and other forms of arts are expressed beautifully by and through individuals with disabilities in Keri Bower's new film, ARTS.  Sharing the power of the arts used to improve social, emotional, cognitive, expressive, and life skills in individuals with challenges is at the heart of this glimpse into pure talent demonstrated by people with disabilities.

ARTS explores the possibilities of creating commercial and personal successes for young artists with various disabilities when encouraged and paired with professional artists working in a field closely related to the artists’ area of talent. From fine art, including painting, drawing and photography, to writing, music, drama and other forms of art, the film explores how the arts can create invaluable opportunities for development and growth for persons with disabilities. From social and life skill development, to self-esteem and self-awareness, the film concludes that for those with artistic gifts, career goals can be achieved.

PAUSE4kidsPAUSE4kids

Pause4Kids was formed to address a range of issues within the disabilities community by offering scholarships for services of need. P4k was founded by Keri Bowers, who relinquished her role with the organization 3 years ago, to focus on Normal Films and Normal Productions. P4k now seeks to make scholarships available on a broader scale than in the past. The donation provided from sales of the soundtrack will be specifically donated to further the goal of providing scholarships for education in the arts. With a community focus, and the desire to grow on a national level, P4k’s mission falls into three broad categories:

· SPECIAL EDUCATION: Working to improving the quality of special education through organized advocacy;

· LEGISLATIVE REFORM: Working to effect meaningful legislative reform at the local, state and federal levels; and

· SOCIAL/RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: Develop and implement social and recreational activities which are not currently available, or are hard-to-find, out-of-the area activities, which will benefit special children.

The soundtrack will go on sale in April, 2008 (National Autism Awareness Month). Promotion includes regional and international efforts, and will include mainstream media, the internet, including You Tube, MySpace, in-house leads, and speaking engagements.
